Internal Power Supply - Included Options for the Yaesu FTdx-5000MP Limited: The SM-5000 Station Monitor is available as an Optional Accessory featuring top-mount stereo speakers and a TFT spectrum scope display. This item is NOT included with the FTdx-5000MP Limited model. Alternatively, the optional SP-2000 External Speaker delivers high-quality sound and features high and low audio filters, switched dual inputs and line out and headphone connectors.
FTDX 5000MP Limited transceivers employ a robust and high-power final amplifier stage that incorporates two super-reliable VRF-150 FETs in a push-pull configuration. They offer a solid 200 W output (75 W in Class A operation), with these great features:. TWO Totally Independent Receivers. SUPERB 112 dB Dynamic Range and +40 dBm 3rd-Order Intercept (VFO-A/Main Receiver at 14 MHz, 500 Hz filter, 600 Hz roofing filter, 10 kHz spacing, IPO1 set). Super sharp 'Roofing' filters for VFO-A/Main Receiver; selectable between 300 Hz, 600 Hz, 3 kHz (6-pole crystal filter), 6 kHz, 15 kHz (4-pole MCF).
300 Hz filter was optional for FTDX 5000 and FTDX 5000D (both discontinued). I've used my FT1000MP for the past 18 years and that radio has always worked great. I'm a 95% CW guy and am addicted to being able to listen to the DX station in left ear and the pile- up in right ear (headphones).
I've loved that radio and had myself convinced it was all I would ever need- but I was wrong. I must admit I was skeptical about all the rave reviews on the FTDX5000MP but in a moment of questionable sanity, I ordered one. I've now had it about 10 days. I was initially a bit intimidated by all the knobs and switches, but in a few hours of reading the manual, I was making CW contacts with ease. I found setting up the 5000 for SPLIT operation quite different than my old 1000MP but not difficult to master and has quickly become 2nd nature. What's really impressive is what the 5000's receiver does. I never found the NR function very impressive on the 1000MP- it changed the sound of the noise but didn't do much to make it actually go away.
But the DNR function on the 5000 is amazing- the background pink noise can be made to just disappear. Much more pleasant listening. I'm still exploring all the other bells and whistles, of which there are many. To have 200W barefoot is nice, too. I hate to admit it but I'd say the 5000 runs circles around my good old 1000.

I should have made this purchase years sooner! I have owned the FTDX5000MP for close to a year now. Purchased from DXE.
Production of mine was late 2017. Being a late production model, this one should not have the OLED issue.
The receiver filtering on this radio is amazing. One can really pull weak signals out of the QRM/QRN. The front panel controls are ergonomically located, making this rig a pleasure to operate. Dual receivers!!!
I'm using a Heil PR-40 straight to the rig, and now also with a Heil Pro 7 headset. Rig is configured with Heil's recommended parametric EQ settings, and I receive many unsolicited excellent transmitted audio comments. The key to enjoying the numerous feature of this rig, is to read, and re-read the owners manual. And then keep it by the rig for quick reference.
By not doing so, you will be missing out on the full capabilities of the FTDX5000MP. My previous Yaesu rigs were the FT-1000MP MK 5, and the FT-2000D. Both of these rig performed very well for me. However, this rig without a doubt is head and shoulders above my previous Yaesu rigs, in every way.
